My Best Friend Bob (Bob Revolution Stroller)

My husband and I are avid runners. Well, we used to be. We ran my third and his second marathon when our first daughter turned 10 months old. That was back when we had an infant that slept through the night – every night.

Nowadays, with a new infant that doesn’t sleep well, being an “avid runner” means running during the weekends – because weekends are the only days of the week when we’re not working, shuttling kids to/from daycare, or trying to get dinner on the table in warp speed.

Our “family runs” have taken place on trails, through gravel and over root-ridden paths. Bob has accompanied us on city tours, grueling runs, and long road trips.

That’s why when we were expecting our second child, we decided that we liked our single Bob (aka The Bob Revolution Stroller) so much that we bought the double Bob.

Bob has a tremendous shock absorbing system, so the ride is very smooth regardless of ground type. You can buy a carseat adaptor for your double Bob; so that if you have an older child, her side of the stroller will have a food/drink tray while baby sleeps comfortably in her carseat (single carseat adaptors are available for the single Bob, too).

Although the double Bob is wide, and difficult to get through older, narrow doorways, we have been able to get it through every door we’ve ever tried. You can also swivel the wheel if you’d like, or position the wheel straight ahead. We don’t own any other double stroller – just Bob. Although Bob is big, it folds up nicely and easily fits into your car trunk.

My only real complaint with Bob is that there’s no holder for my purse. And, Bob does come with a hefty price tag.

Since my husband and I are always searching for the best deals, we ended up buying our Bob from REI and saved a total of $130. By signing up for a REI membership (~$10 fee), we got 20% off. We purchased this stroller through UPromise (free college savings site located at: http://www.upromise.com/welcome), and were able to put 3% of the purchase in a fund for our daughter’s college. Also, we used our Discover card to make the purchase and got an additional 1% back.

Please tell me what you think of your Bob or favorite stroller!

  • I was trying so hard to hold out for the REI sale, but I just couldn’t, so I bought my BOB full price. It’s a great stroller for running. I’m 7 months postpartum and am running a half-marathon (my third) in a week. There’s no way I would’ve been able to finish my “training” (I say that because it’s been bare bones) without it. I think it’s got great storage between the bottom cubby and netted area in back.

Unfortunately, I seem to have gotten a bit of a lemon. I’ve already had to replace the back inner tubes and I’ve had the stroller for less than 2 months. Despite now being filled with the green slime stuff, the back wheels are still leaking. I live in the suburbs and am running on paved paths! :-(

    • Oh no Laura – I’m so sorry that your Bob is a BUMMER! You should return it since it’s only 2 mos old! I don’t think that Bob would like knowing that they have an unhappy customer out there.

CONGRATULATIONS (and the best of luck) on your half-marathon. Wow, 7 months postpartum…you’re a ROCK star! I’m 13 months postpartum (from my second child) and I can’t imagine running a half marathon now, lol! I can’t wait to hear how it goes – please keep us posted on your stroller (I hope you take it back) and your upcoming race!
