Happy Friday!
This morning, my 4 and 2 year old daughters and I were getting into the car to go to their preschool. My 4 year old was having difficulty getting into her carseat, and said “Oh my God!” I explained to her that we don’t use that phrase, and why, and gave her some alternative suggestions to say when she gets frustrated. She thought about it for a few seconds, and then asks, “so it’s kind of like when daddy says BAMMIT! after he hurts himself and I get to tell him not to use bad words, right?!”
Kids sure do mirror their parents - sometimes a little bit too much!
Saw this video earlier in the week and thought it was super cute.

I love that you won’t let your kids say OMG. I’ve taught my kids not to also. Unfortunately it seems like most children are not taught that and I spend a lot of time explaining to my kids how different families have different rules.
I’m not sure where she picked that up from because neither my husband nor I use that phrase. Who knows?! I know what you mean about explaining how different families have different rules. I feel like we have that conversation every day.
Don’t know whether you saw my post about food, but you’ll probably get a good chuckle at the first part of this article: http://purebebe.com/blog/2012/01/11/how-to-encourage-healthy-eating-at-home/
It’s funny. My daughter is a mini Me when it comes to facial expression and gestures. She talks like I do (very fast); she wrinkles her nose and rolls her eyes like I do; and she occasionally responds to oddball questions with a sarcastic tone.
Andy, I love how she mimics your facial expressions – too cute! One thing’s fo sho…she has a great mama to mimic!
That’s a precious story! Kids of all ages do say the funniest things
Thanks, Lynda! They certainly keep me on my toes, lol.
